Ten Oaks does not fully endorse the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED points program because of its many flaws in reasoning and crediting of material usage. However, we do understand that many of our customers are looking for LEED points on their projects and information on how our flooring can add to their LEED point total. To that end, we’ve sought to give you the most user-friendly information possible on our current LEED point availability. Read on to find out more about how a Ten Oaks floor can add to your LEED point total in your next architectural or construction project:
Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation.
Use building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (based on cost) of the total materials value. If only a fraction of a product or material is extracted/harvested/recovered and manufactured locally, then only that percentage (by weight) shall contribute to the regional value. Only include materials permanently installed in the project. Furniture may be included, providing it is included consistently in MR Credits 3-7.
